Well over a quarter of our national GDP flows through the government. There is almost no economic activity you can participate in that is not controlled at some level by the government. The smallest business here in California has its walls papered with government regulations and information sheets that have to be adhered to.
Nobody can look at economics and government in this country and call them "separate."
