Did Reagan have anything to do with Glasnost and PerestroÃ¯ka ??
No more than the old Soviet nomentaklura that kept voting for very old leaders who barely lasted a year (Andropov , Chernyenko).
Then came the much younger Gorbachev.

Gorby initiated the openness!
Meaning, people could speak up, protest, without fearing for their life!
And the rest is history.
