Species of bird endangered again

The North American Chickenhawk, the symbol of the belief that those who have not been in military service have little or nothing to say about supporting U.S. military action, and certainly are not as qualified to be in leadership positions that could involve such actions.

The species was considered extinct by most observers through most of the 90s, when Bill Clinton ran consecutively against two war heroes.

It made a remarkable comeback in 2001, peaking prior to the 2004 election when their numbers darkened the skies.

Concerned naturalists have noticed a rapid dropoff in sightings in recent months, and have issued dire predictions that the species could again be almost extinct by the fall of 2008.
