What they become is more religious I've found
and often that aligns them with wedge issues pushed by the Republicans such as abortion and taxes. Often those issues cloud the natural liberal movement brought on by things such as social security and medical care.
It's often natural, once death starts staring you in the face to pull out the afterlife as some hedge.
