You have to look at the larger picture. I assume your retirement fund has been something you contributed to over many years. The market is STILL far higher than it's been for many years.
Look at what the DOW was during the years you put that money in. What is it now? Have you really "lost" anything? What would that money be worth if you'd stuck it in a CD account instead?
