Traping IR in the home is a good idea here in New England. The brief hours of solar heat gain on a sunny day in winter or cold 'spring' here can be a significant offset to burning petroleum products, our alternative. That being said I've installed a special window covering that blocks UV from fading floors, rugs and furniture.
