There's any number of euphemisms, aren't there?
The Danes will have to adopt a political culture that is more accepting of people who don't think and behave like us. Of course there must be limits to what we will accept, but so far neither our society nor our way of life is under threat. Maybe the lesson is to keep our powder dry for when it really matters. The prophet cartoon crisis was not worth it first time around and we could certainly do without an encore.
These people have been rioting and even killing over cartoons. They demand absolute submission to their demands, their whims, and their culture. If it hadn't been the cartoons it would have been a swimsuit ad, a column in the paper, or somebody whose face they just didn't like. You tell me which side should be moving toward the center here.
The author frets that maybe the people who reprinted the cartoons are at fault. God forbid anything free men should do anything that should offend people whose ability to be offended approaches the pyschotic.
I'd love to know at what point things have to get to before he thinks it will "really matter."
