Kind of what I mean
IE:
Implementing a UI change and a feature for 'timing out' threads, and whatever else comes necessary along the way, its possible to end up doing more work than adding a new discrete feature.
Of course it all depends on th extensibility of the particular code in question and if any basic assumptions are violated by the proposed tweak.
