Get this!
(1) Nearly 1/4 of all the gasoline refined, produced and used in the last 150 years was
consumed, mostly by motor vehicles, in the LAST TEN YEARS.
(2) Projections indicate that by the year 2050 there will be 2.5 billion motor-vehicles
in use around the world.,...Today the figure is far short of a billion.
China will have as many motor vehiles as the USA by then.
(3) Less than ONE PERCENT of the POTENTIAL ENERGY in any given quantity
of gasoline in your car's fuel tank [conventional automobile] ends up moving you
from Point-A to Point-B in your automobile....Friction, heat loss, etc. use up more than 99 percent
of that potential energy. ... SHOCKING.
(4) Detroit auto makers continue to refuse to use carbon-fiber composite material
for automobile bodies in place of heavier steel, even though carbon-fiber composite
is stronger, much more corrosion resistant and far LIGHTER than steel.
The lighter the automobile body, the LESS ENERGY is required to accelerate the car;
the LESS ENERGY required for the car to cruise at high speed over any given distance.
I was shocked when I saw the NOVA TV episode last night.
