And I'm not denying the apocalyptic weirdness we're suddenly facing. That's the tinge of gallows humor I sense. It's as if it's truly sunk in that we may well have a ringside seat at the end...of something, nothing so grand as the end of the world, but it's that expectant hush wondering whether our world will go into the crapper right now, or maybe this'll shake loose something better.
