Off Topic » in reply to Getting shot at in the city

There was a murder one block away from where I now work; the vic was popped in January.

There were five homicides in January in this city of
one million people where I now live. Calgary.
I'm thinking New York City, 12 million, no longer
registers 5 x 12 homicide victims per month on average.
So it was bad here, worse than NYC in January.
And to think that where I now work was only a block away from yellow
police tape, homicide detectives at work, and flashing lights on cop cars.

People today in this hemisphere are less squeamish about blood and gore; they view right and wrong not as absolutes but as personal
opinion or shades of gray; they often respond with guns or other weapons today rather than with words or fists [which I do not condone] as they used to do a generation ago.
