That was a bit cryptic, et. You seem to have packed multiple levels of meaning into your subject line imagery and a one-line message.

If you mean to suggest that I need to be bribed to work on the Zone, nope, fraid not (and I'm not offended because I think you don't mean it seriously). It's a matter of finding a significant amount of time to devote to a complete makeover of this place. The design's five years old, and like any piece of machinery that old, in Internet years, it's reached the point where it needs to be replaced. We're too far down the curve of diminishing returns on repairs and patch jobs and hacks.

Part of the problem, or opportunity depending on how you look at it, is that I've abandoned Windows server development to focus solely on LAMP. Started at the beginning of the year, and I'm loving it. In particular, I can see how I can build an ass-kicking Zone on a LAMP platform, while at the same time it won't be as difficult as the equivalent project on a Windows/IIS server. That leaves me with the nasty problem of what to do about the Zone, and a dozen sites belonging to clients, that are still running under Windows and depend on it because of ASP code. The clock's ticking on the server hardware, too, and I need to move all my stuff to a large virtualized hosting plan before the year's out.

I'm feeling pretty squeezed right at the moment. I understand why the Chinese ideograms for opportunity and danger are identical.
