Got an even better idea. Leave the TV off entirely. Television news people should be given the same credence as people on television trying to sell you cars and hamburgers, and for the same reasons.

I don't watch TV news at all, not Fox or anything, unless there's something visual I need to see like a Shuttle launch or something. Stuck without even a magazine, I watched some CNN while I was in an airport recently, and I could almost feel my brain starting to shrivel.

There are lots better places to pick up news. Internet, even newspapers. The key is to keep your BS filter healthy, and never stop following a story and checking the background on your own until you get to the bottom of it.
