Most of the time I like the system under which we live. When it works, it works; when it doesn't, it sucks. But it's the best they've come up with so far, IMO.

The problem with exporting so-called democracy is that (IMO) Iraq and Afghanistan are not ready for it. The population in general is still living mentally, emotionally and philosophically in the Middle Ages. When the Russians were ready for it, they threw off the choke-hold of the KGB and the Communist regime. They're still evolving, probably into a dictatorship because they got rid of the regime but not the people who had run it. Plus crime has run rampant.

Arab nations live under the principles of graft, theft and taking care of #1. Add in the hatred of the different versions of Islam for each other and you've got something volatile enough to blow up in your face. It's a way of life. Which means their government will be rife with graft, greed and corruption.
