...then a view of ferrous (but not magnetic) parts of Phoenix/Pathfinder/Spirit/Opportunity should show an accumulation of soil/dust beyond that of other non-ferrous parts. I think it would be noticed by now, and commented on.
On the other hand, there may not be any ferrous metals on those missions, or none visible to cameras.
