Don't really have a link, but Popular Science had an article a while back on military exoskeletons, and somebody wrote in a comment who was published in the current issue.

This is all paraphrased:

His idea was to have medical readouts and sensors in the "Power Suit" (shades of Heinlein) so an injury could be reported immediately. So far, so good.

Then he wondered if the suit could be programmed to "walk" an injured or unconscious soldier back to base. Hmmm. Even Heinlein hadn't picked up that idea, and I suppose simple movements might be automated, but it would be a lot harder than the normal "feedback" motion system (see also: walking robots).

Then he proposed that the suit be programmed to take even a deceased soldier back to base, preventing the suit from falling into enemy hands. I thought about THAT one, and it took five minutes for my neck hair to go back down.
