And since when have neocons objected to wealth, excess, consumption? I mean, the attitude is if you have the money for it or can get the credit, buy it and use it regardless of the consequences to others or mankind as a whole.

We know we're going to run out of oil, but why not destroy everything we have to ekeing out the last gallon before we do? After all, if God didn't want us doing that He would have given us the means.
