Unproven assumptions

One problem with the suggested date, and the assumption that Homer was centuries after the Trojan War and Odysseus's Wanderings is that the expanded timescale is based entirely on Egyptian chronology - which, as Peter James and other archeologists have demonstrated is highly suspect. It's entirely possible that what we call "the 12 century BC" is more like the 10th due to too much confidence in the reconstructed Egyptian chronology that forms the backbone of the entire Levant and Mesopotamia.

In the alternative chronology of James, et al, 1200 BC is more like 950-925 BC, and the Trojan War is possibly ~ 900 BC, but a couple of generations before Homer.
