American colonists versus the Crown

I have some familiarity with the taking of the lands from the First Peoples.

Britain was happy with the US as a colony, but wanted the colonists to pick up the cost of
grabbing the Ohio from France. The colonists refused these charges.

The colonists wanted more Native American lands and wanted to operate manufacturies.

Britain did not want addition burdens of war and wanted a market for goods. It was quite happy with the First Peoples holding the land west of the Appalachians. George Washington was a principal of the Ohio Land Company.

The firearms were to kill or neutralize local governors appointed by Britain, as well as their colonial agents.

Apparently, the idea was that the firearms were intended for "self defense" against the Native Americans as well as criminals, AND for political use if the circumstances called for it.

Those were hand loaded single shot muskets, rifles, and pistols.

I don't know how good of an idea this was. It worked then, but later there was a war over slavery.

So far we have not had another revolution in the US. You sometimes hear people speaking of it, but usually as ill considered bluster.

O Canada...
