this is true and it always has been.
I don't have strong feelings regarding hand gun control. I have owned a hand gun for about 50 years and I haven't fired it in over 20. I have no big problem with local option laws and I suppose this will prevent such laws but without national control the arguments are shaky anyway.
If and when the time comes, the Court will reverse this decision and allow a lot or a little gun control. I realize that the enlightened feel that hand gun control is a good thing but I am not convinced that the majority of citizens agree. In my opinion, this is not something that should be force fed to the people for their own good.
I am not convinced that government control would be any more successful with guns than they are with illegal drugs and I don't believe that accidental shootings are a good enough reason to add limits to gun ownership.
The gun lobby's claim that when guns are illegal only criminals will have guns rings true to me but I will not be buying any new hand guns and I seriously doubt that there will be a run on guns as a result of this ruling.
It will be interesting to see if this really causes problems in the future. If there is a significant statistical increase in gun crime I will tend to be swayed but I'll bet that if the opposite occurs, the enlightened will just continue to be enlightened.
