Back in the mid 1990's one could search the Internet and find lots of .mil sites. I found one site that listed hundreds of mistakes like this going back decades. The latest date was 1972 when they no longer listed these military booboo's made when testing gas, weapons ect.

Many of these mistakes were never heard of because they involved farm animals. For example I recall one incident where a cloud of toxic gas drifted over neighboring farm land where a several thousand sheep were grazing and killed them all. After a long battle the government finally paid the farmer a small fraction of his loss. There were so many mistakes it made me ill just to view the list. I wish I would have saved it for future reference.
