imho, people claiming they know the history of Mars, as fact, are jumping the gun. Such attitudes prejudice the collection and analysis of data.
We're no where near the point of having data-sets analogous to those that have lead to an understanding of the genesis and evolution of Earth geologically, atmospherically, hydrologically or, ultimately, biologically.
