The Aptera gets 130 mpg equivalent or better. A gasoline car with the same fuel economy would be so tiny, it probably wouldn't even have a full-sized passenger seat. Or, if it did, it would double as cargo space, and you would have to choose between carrying your girlfriend, or carrying a bag of groceries. Electric cars, being fundamentally more efficient, have the advantage of more interior space for the same fuel economy. You get two seater car, seats arranged side-by-side, and you get cargo space for a dozen bags of groceries.
I find the specs for the Aptera hybrid extremely attractive. The looks are novel, futuristic, and obviously designed by an engineer rather than a marketing executive. Like any other vehicle, I think the Aptera would win over the macho types if it had a macho paint job. You see it done on American choppers all the time. Plain bike becomes a tricked out rocketbike just by adding some neon lights, nebula paintjob, and some chromali trim. It's sick, but true.
