Love the hypocrisy: Rightwingers think that the "sincerely held religious beliefs" of Christians are so sacred they take precedence over the law. But show a fraction of that respect for the beliefs of other religions, and you're the spawn of demons and the essence of pure evil. Not to mention a hypocrite.
Frankly, I don't see that there's any hypocrisy at all depicted in that childish poorly-drawn cartoon. Unless you really think that conservatism is a religion, it is not entitled to the same protections as a religion. Criticizing a partisan political ideology is nothing like criticizing a religion.
And frankly, Islam is more deserving of respect than your political beliefs. Though it's hard to tell sometimes: Both belief systems are based on rejection of the modern world and a fanatic passion to reverse the last several centuries of progress. Can we agree that whether it's two centuries or twelve, the difference is a matter of degree, not quality?
