Its how you have interpreted it to justify what you're saying.
I'm an atheist, I think all religions are stupid at best, and potentially toxic at worst. I'm also bicultural, I know perfectly well no single culture is "right" or "wrong". They are all completely subjective and arbitrary.
Does this mean I have to make excuses for Sharia Law or Feminine Genital Mutilation? Of course not. But that doesn't mean I have the right to condemn an entire civilization because some of its more extreme and violent and fanatical elements.
Not that long ago, the good Christians of Yugoslavia were ethnically cleansing their Muslim minorities, killing the men and rounding up the women into rape camps. No one blamed Christianity for that.
As for the results of some of the more ridiculous extremes in Islam, we already have all we need to control and suppress their more barbaric aspects. We have a Constitution and a Bill of Rights and Civil Rights Law. We don't need any special new legal tools to deal with them. Any attitude or philosophy or politician that even hints that we need make special arrangements for any one religion is immediately suspect. You expect some crazy ass tribal mullah in Iran or Iraq to spout that kind of nonsense, it should not be tolerated from an American candidate for President.
