Even Conservatives and Liberals, cops and Black Lives Matter activists. Even Christians and Muslims.
"Moral blindspots" arise when you hear how valid concerns (like yours) give rise to inappropriate and evil reactions (like Trumpism). Evil people over-react in order to take advantage of the valid concerns of good people, and sometimes good people over-react in an attempt to counter these evil over-reactions.
This is the point I tried to make to you when we first started talking about this. There is no Liberal conspiracy to give Muslims a free pass, just people who recognize bigotry and mistake honest criticism for it and feel the need to respond to stop it, and who sometimes go a bit overboard. However, there IS an evil conspiracy of racists and bigots who try to exaggerate every valid concern and fear in order to peddle their own poison. Trumpism is just the tip of the iceberg.
And it doesn't stop with religion. Bigotry uses race, nationality, culture, age, politics, gender, sexual orientation, ANYTHING IT CAN SEIZE ON, to divide those it hates and to consolidate their followers. So maybe Liberals are a bit overly sensitive when they hear that tune; I know I am, but maybe its because we've heard it before and know exactly where it leads, and why.
