Everybody has they own level of caution
far be it from me to say what anyone chooses to do but I am several hundred feet above sea level and water is the big killer in hurricanes. If my kids didn't have free shelter in Mobile they would have probably gone further north
I was here for Katrina and it was a terrible nuisance and the property damage was painful and substantial but lives were not in danger in my neighborhood. Low lying areas are definitely evacuated.
We are preparing by the usual means and stocking up gasoline for the generator
