The biggest concern I have, which applies to both candidates, but even more to McCain with his frequently stated committment to no tax increase, but applies to Obama too, is that the US will literally be broke by this time next year.
Assuming the liability for Freddie and Fannie has added about 1 trillion dollars to the Federal debt according to what I've read which doesn't come from the Feds themselves. That debt will need servicing. As will the debt from the last few years.
The jobs market has deteriorated and headed south, as has the housing situation. When jobs come back they typically will be lower paid than the ones lost.
The country's infrastructure is aging and deteriorating, including highways which will suffer from the decrease in mileage. That investment alone would suck up a huge amount of money.
Baby boomers are coming onto the Social Security and Medicare pipelines.
Even Greenspan, a Republican, says that McCain would have to raise taxes, and that's viewing the situation from here, not a year ago.
Obama would raise taxes, and have to, but it will take a lot just to service the debt run up lately, the debt just added and the debt coming down the pike. I don't know if he can raise them that far.
We'll see, I guess.
But, I like the plans. Wish they had a chance.

That's quite interesting and reads well. I like both of them, don't think either will be implemented.
