Must be some highly regarded campaign contributors at AIG. But the bail out was delayed... So they must have been negotiating the quid quo pros...
Oh well, the politician for life set is gonna raise our taxes any way. Might as well bail out yet another failed institution so that they can keep the gravey train of graft running...
Or maybe it was just to obvious that Uncle Sam would bail out Aunt Fannie and Uncle Freddie but then allow the bastard child AIG die on the table.
You are correct that this is socialism... Only perhaps it is worse... Socialism promises some sort of "equality". (Nevermind if it actually delivers). This form of socialism is rewarding complete and utter failure. There is no equality or fairness. You fail. and you win. Thus those that ran their business well, will lose/ They will now have to compete against a reinvigorated competitor who has been given a free pass.
What a joke Washington has become.
Maybe one of AIG's competitors will file a complaint in the world trade orginization. This "bail-out" creates an unfair trade advantage for a US company that competes in a world market.
