re: Gnats & Moral Pygmies, and you say you don’t want to get into that type of confrontations

Can’t debate the facts so you result to name calling. That’s what I call “outgassing” and your ill informed post proves it.
By their logic, the highly regulated welfare states of the rest of Western Europe should have preceded us years ago into total financial irresponsibility.

They did! Europe already had universal banking so banks could perform various transactions and the US was just trying to catch up with them.
That’s why Clinton was happy to sign the bill, Clinton’s treasury officials (who now advise Obama) voted for it, why Joe Biden voted for it and it passed with a 90 to 8 voted.

The Gramm bill did not create any different types of collaterilized debt obligations or change any rules regarding bank leverage ratios but only enabled banks to be diversified like our European counterparts.

The villains you claim of are in fact the democrats you are going to vote for. They created a blackmail scheme with the CRA act that the government looks at a bank to see if it acquires enough sub-prime loans so the bank can make various depositor facilities, mergers and acquisitions.

The only reason the economy is hurting is because of sub-prime loans and they are the product of failed democratic policies, all with good intentions, but of failed policy and the lack of heeded warnings from Democratic whistle blowers, Wall Street, Alan Greenspan, President Bush, John McCain and a host of concerned economist.

The facts are there for you to see, but you are the one who is blindly convinced by partisan rhetoric.

Europe would love to have our current unemployment rate, our rate of growth and economy as a whole.
