The Palin insanity isn't an honest concern about her readiness to be President, as though she were the default top of the tickets.
It's a desperate attempt to distract people from who Obama was and still is, including his own qualifications and judgment. There were a number of places in the debate where McCain should have clobbered him, including Obama's Afghanistan ideas. Fortunately for the Democrats, McCain was running on index cards almost as much as Obama was.
