If you'll remember, according to Conservatives the economy can't afford any regulations, including environmental. And they are so passionate about it they will suppress and slant science to reinforce their beliefs.
Now no matter who is the next president and whoever controls congress, the Conservative legacy is poverty - the government will be broke. Knowing that boomers will come along, that Medicare needs funding, the country's infrastructure needs rebuilding, the Bush Administration has spent a fortune on wars and now socializing the financial infrastructure by purchasing all the bad debt.
Not only the economy loses, health care loses, pretty much everything loses. Except, obviously, Halliburton and the wealthy. A very sad time for most.

The environment loses out to Conservatives no matter the economy.
