Listening to these guys is a measure of gullibility.
First, do they believe it themselves? Of course not. Then why say it? For the Great Unwashed, and for their apologists who immediately trot off hollaring the gospel. Gives 'em something to do.
The latest Conservative wrinkle is that this is not the fault of unregulated capitalism as practiced and encouraged by Bush and the Conservatives. It is the fault of government meddling in the financial structure, said meddling being done by Democrats.
No wonder no one believes 'em.
