Do we really need anything else?

I know there are still serious Trekkers out there (NOT Trekkies), but are they
quite as rabid as they used to be? ST is over 40 years old now, Enterprise
just didn't really grab people, and what was amazing in 1966 just isn't the
same any more in this post-Star Wars universe.

I know from first hand experience when today's youth watch the original
series, they don't really know the main characters (meaning they aren't
all that attached to them/care about them) and the sets look utterly
cheezy compared to today's CGI - and telling them how different things
were long ago just doesn't quite cut it.

Yes, I was deeply upset about the little blasphemers, but the fact remains,
we who grew up seeing the pioneering days of SF on television and film now
live in a world full of people who are no longer amazed by spaceships or aliens.
