Space/Science » in reply to Mathematical Universe

We can't have it both ways.

We can't have it both ways!
A universe [ours] explained by mathematics? that fine,
but that doesn't mean mathematics can necessarily explain an unknown or a mythical universe into existence.

e.g., that thread on "parallel universes" elsewhere on this forum
featured griping about the allegedly 'dumbed down' content on a TV program, NOVA, that dealt with the originator of the hypothetical
concept.
I laughed at the idea that some of you zoners were offended or disappointed by the lack of science esoterica and lack of deep cosmological insight on the subject matter in the program when in fact you may have been complaining about NOTHING REAL.

HEY! There's NO PROOF that parallel universes or macroscopic parallel realities exist. Mathematical scribbles on paper or chalkboard DON'T COUNT!
I'll ignore the possibility that parallel realities MAY exist on a subatomic quantum level, well removed from OUR MACROSCOPIC reality perceived by OUR SENSES.

Yes, mathematics explains this universe of our quite nicely.
But the success of mathematics in explaining one universe
does not mean mathematics [or science in general] is
certain to explain other universes.

There maybe universes, other realities, where events and actions are completely capriciously chaotic; where scientific analysis and observation are impossible or worthless; and where mathematical formulae to explain the random chaotic events there would be pointless; where neither evolution is possible, and where cosmic intelligent design or cosmological-scale programming would be futile as well.
