The ------- machine designer stands across from me and Dick.
"It's in the bag! An electoral victory - very close but realistic. Just as ordered."
"What about the states using paper ballots and the equivalent."
"We have operatives in place in those needed states."
Dick shakes his hand and sends him on his way with a briefcase full of just printed c notes. Then turns to me.
"I received your wish list of Executive Orders. I have to admit puzzlement about the land status one? I had the lawyers review it to see if that was within the powers of the Executive Branch."
"And?"
"Yeah, I got it through for you. All of them...including the land one."
Dick holds me an eelskin briefcase and opens it up. All the paperwork and deeds are present. I also see an Treasury Department Presidential electronic transfer key card. One of only five in existence. Dick sees me eyeing it in wonder.
"That's your gold watch. The President and I thought you might have use of one."
"Thanks. You're the best."
"So what exactly do you plan to do with this land...expand Shamballa...open a new Indian Reservation...create a new kingdom?"
"Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged?"
"Only about 10 times."
"You remember Galt's Gulch?"
"Of course."
It takes him a moment to connect the dots.
"That's what the land is for?"
"Something like that."
"You think its going to get that bad? We've already got men in with the Podesta-Soros group should this election thing unravel. Obama would be just a Clinton Presidency redux, albeit with the Black Power trappings for the underclasses - a ghetto Camelot. And my god...Biden as VP. Biden! If Obama checks out early we can go back to the leftist agenda of the Nixon years - which is about five parsecs to the right of Obama."
Dick laughs. Clearly discounting any threat Obama represents.
"It might still turn out bad. I always like to be prepared for any contingency."
"Understood. I expect you'll save a spot for me, Lynne & the girls should the fan get splattered with doo-doo?"
"Of course."
Dick closes the briefcase and hands it to me.
"I'll probably see you on inauguration day."
"Yes, I expect I'll be invited no matter who wins."
"Yes, your invitation is already locked in the system."
"Great."
I take the briefcase, step away from the desk and head towards the door. I stop and turn.
"It's definitely been fun hasn't it...these past 8 years?"
"Yes. We accomplished a lot. We lost a lot too. Those are the breaks."
"Yes., those are the breaks. But Dick...it's only ever just the beginning. Take care of yourself. You've earned a break."
"You too. Don't let any rattlers or scorpions bite you in the behind!"
I enter the elevator and the car rises up the shaft to street level. In my hands is the future...and right now I have to agree with the eager designer...
...It's in the bag!
"It's in the bag!"
