And Apollo 13 did conduct some science

Such as crashing their final Saturn 5 rocket stage into the Moon so that
the seismometer left by Apollo 12 could record the impact and learn about
the lunar interior, which was pretty unknown in 1970.

They also took images of Earth and the Moon, plus they went farther from
our planet than any other mission so far. And most importantly, they made
it back alive and the experience probably saved other Apollo missions from
having a similar fate or worse.

And they had a major motion picture made about them, which most of
the other successful flights did not. No, Man on the Moon was a
miniseries on HBO.

What did some old pilot say, that any crash you can walk away from
was a good flight?
