Oops. Ignore the Carter post. I don't think Bush has the energy.

I suspect we've about heard the last of him. My read is that he's not a force but willing to be a front man for others. He made a living as a President's son and will as a former President but doesn't have the drive or intellectual capacity to be a force in his own right. He was clearly a pawn of those who made a lot of money while he played at being President. And who had other interests. Early on he told his administration that they would do nothing for the Palestinians or Middle East peace during his time, but leave the Israeli's to do what they wanted.

And I don't think he has the interest. I don't think he cares much about anything past himself.

If someone puts something together where he rides at the head of the parade he might do it, but I'd imagine more of a Reagan model. Just make money for the sake of making money and regard the concerns of others as puzzling.

(I would be very surprised if he's still abstinent from mood- and mind-altering drugs including alcohol. If he isn't abstinent it will become more obvious when he leaves office. Without that structure and ego gratification those matters could get obviously out of hand and there may not be a reluctance to publish what he does along those lines, so to speak.)
