Bumblebee nest kits. Build one, then make up the kits as gifts. The secret to a successful bumblebee nest is capturing a queen in the spring. Use a net and find a bumblebee flying around early checking out places on the ground.

I have less experience with, am just now getting started on, bat nests.

I generally have between 8 and 15 people to whom I give gifts who are of an age where they have everything they could possibly want, and then some. And the gatherings are such that "orphans" are invited. It's nice to have something for them, too, so I try to find an off-the-wall, one-size-fits-all gift and have a lot of them.

One year it was small LED headlights, useful for finding things on the floor, working on a computer, etc. $2.50 each and got more attention than the more expensive stuff. Last year it was remote controlled helicopter-like things. $8.00 each, and they were flying all over the place. Not just for kids.

I kind of get off on scouring the internet for things which would appeal to me.
