Anyone remember Skylab's Arabella spider?
Now regarding the ISS spider, if we are lucky, the cosmic rays that
shoot through the station will cause the arachnid to mutate into giant
size and go after the astronauts, who will use conveniently placed
flame throwers to repel the creature.
The astronauts will eventually realize they have to EVA to escape the
spider, but this will prove fruitless as the cosmic rays have also allowed
the non-insect to survive the vaccuum of space.
Then, just as the astronauts are huddled against a support beam, facing
certain doom as the giant mutant space spider opens its saliva-coated
mandibles over them while the space station hurdles through space
over the cold blue globe of Earth - the lost tool bag comes flying in at
18,000 MPH and beans the spider, knocking it off the space station and
sends it tumbling into the void, all the while screeching like the Queen
Alien in Aliens after it got shot out of the spaceship airlock! And yes,
sound does travel through airless space in this case, thank you.
Ten years later, the Chinese have just finished their own space station
in Earth orbit. As the two taikonauts are settling down for a nice dinner
(Chinese takeout, no less), they suddenly hear a thud on the station
hull, followed by a dull scratching sound on the main hatch....
