distorted vews of the cost of space

Just heard a statement by a national news anchor that, in describing what it’s taking for the big bail outs, ended with the words, “even more than it took to get to the moon”. How much does he think it took to get to the Moon anyway? The last I heard it was around 22 billion over 8 years. That hardly amounts to chump change when you look at what is mentioned for the bailouts, which is in the range of 800 billion this year alone. That shows you how distorted the public impression is of what it cost for the space program.
