I have to admit to a bit of foolishness. I got a 24" 1920 X 1200 monitor and it's always had a darker half and a lighter half. Vertical split right down the middle.
From time to time I've tried to eliminate it through Windows, through the graphics card, have badgered the graphics card tech support, and not gotten anywhere.
Got fed up again yesterday and fiddled with the buttons on the side of the monitor. And it's gone. I have one screen.
In the next few months maybe I'll try the same thing to get the speakers to work.
