I think you can chalk it up to greed as a patholgy for certain individuals.
Stealing, like illicit sex or gambling must excite certain areas of the brain.
We have a lot of pathological people running around in high places.

Although I talk to people DAILY who've lost money in their retirement accounts, have lost their jobs, or had cutbacks in their hours, insurance or pay; there seems to be some big reckoning going on.

Money has been printed and lent freely, squandered and stolen, mostly racking up big zeroes in some people's bank accounts.
They Giveth and They Taketh Away.
If there is no leveling or forgiveness in the currency, then we are on the Road to Hell in the next few years and it ain't going to be pretty.

Take Asheville and it's biggest realty company here. One of the places in America where people are still investing in property. Out of 44 agents they had last year, only 16 still remain and are working. And even they aren't making any money. Talk to any realtor.
Everything has literally stopped. And it's about to get much worse.
