I don't study pictures of Mars, but the photo reminded me of another photo from long ago where a satellite photo showed a piece of timber sticking through the snow somewhere in outer Mongolia and everyone thought it was the long lost Ark.

I had read one of the comments further along the page that it was a rock, yet I have not taken the time to look at the edge of the crater. I'll take your word for it.

Now as for the dendrites....mineral trees, etc......were those taken on Mars as well and what is your best bet on those?
