"Our" conservatives are folks on whom the techniques have worked very well.
"It seems to me that the nature of the ultimate revolution with which we are now faced is precisely this: That we are in process of developing a whole series of techniques which will enable the controlling oligarchy who have always existed and presumably will always exist to get people to love their servitude." ( Aldous Huxley in a 1962 speech at Berkeley).
"The power elite goes to any lengths to keep the public misled, distracted, fearful, and ultimately imprisoned in a matrix of disinformation, rampant consumerism and the lowest common denominators of human nature, including raw violence and mindless sexuality. As Huxley observed in 1962, the controlling oligarchy has long been at work developing scientific methods of control to "induce people to love their servitude" - to make them "enjoy a state of affairs which by any decent standard they ought not to enjoy."
It seems to me that fighting wars is a big part of the way Conservatives are kept happy. They live vicariously through the experience, sort of like having a good football or basketball team in one's town. They feel personally empowered, much the way we did during rallies in high school. And, I'll admit, college, but a little less so there.

Finally someone explains the why of Conservatives.
