The only two nations "recognizing" South Ossetta as an independent nation are Russia and Nicaragua. In any case, it sure as hell isn't part of Russia.

A more accurate analogy would be the Gulf War, when the U.S. attacked Iraq because it invaded Kuwait. You can make a case for that, but if you do, it better be applied across the board.
