I despise Al Franken - and guess what! I don't buy his books and I change the channel if he appears on TV. I don't threaten, pressure or boycott entire "media outlets" just because they interview him for 5 minutes out of countless hours of otherwise inoffensive programming or publish one of his books out of thousands of other diverse titles. You see, I'm not arrogant to presume my tastes are more refined and simply better than everyone else's, and therefore the right ones, the only ones, that should be accommodated. Brilliant author and "liberal" *boo* *hiss* *spit* pundit Christopher Hitchens has some interesting and I think relevant things to say about free speech here (part 1) and here (part 2) that touch on this. You might not like the contents of some people's free speech, but no one has the moral authority to remove the right of others to hear it if they so wish.

Banned by "the" consumers? True consumer choice is deciding for yourself, not for everyone else.
