Current Events » in reply to Internet vs. newspapers

Newspapers have been around 400 years, how long has internet existed?

January/15/1609. The world's first 'newspaper'
came into existence.
It was then a single-page medium; and the news
was understandably dated, taking weeks/months to
travel 1,000's of miles by ship or on horseback.

Admittedly the internet does contain news
blogs and editorials; most of which are ill-informed trash.
The internet is fast approaching the end of its "wild-west',
free-access stage.
In a couple of years, all internet providers, even Public Libraries will be compelled to charge internet users hourly fees to connect and use.

OTOH, free newspapers, first started out in NYC a decade or two ago, are now available, even here in Calgary, and are a growing phenomena.

And, yes, with technology, even newspapers can and are evolving
to display more razzle-dazzle and glitz.
100 years ago, newspapers started to display half-tone
B&W photos on their pages. Then later in the century, color photos
were engraved/embedded onto newspaper pages.

NEXT, with the development of reuseable "electronic paper",
or disposable paper [imbedded with a mesh of fine copper wires, silicon solar-cell beads for power, microchips and cheap flexible LCD film/strips]
it is or soon will be possible for such a futuristic newspaper to display
brief animated imagery...shifting weather map patterns for example.
Audio snippets from such a newspaper are possible too.
