Please read the post before passing such a judgment.

I'm saying the expectations are unreasonable, and the guy won't be able to meet them. I said that as a way of warning, a word of caution, not condemnation. And along the way he will disappoint both sides.

I do wish him the best and I believe his approach is the only one with any chance of pulling the country out of this mess intact. I believe only Obama can do it, with his credibility as a liberal being necessary for any modification in Social Security and Medicare. Let a Conservative try it and the response will be as it was to Bush trying to get SS funds into those derivatives.

I also think it will be very hard to sell some elements on the idea of sacrifice and that Obama will get beat up pretty badly for that. The pounding will come primarily from the Conservatives if he expects them to sacrifice anything. That's based upon their resistance to all things done for the general good, from emissions standards to mileage standards to endangered species protection to cutting back on optional and unnecessary wars. (One of 'em even objects to low-energy consuming light bulbs.)
