Obama grabs hold of the "third rail"

Here.

We're fortunate in that it is no longer blasphemy to point out that entitlements are the major economic problem in our future, but we'll see if Obama can survive it any better than other presidents have.

He also seems to be backing away from the "card check" legislation.

One last item: Note that the Guantanamo goalposts have been moved yet again (boldface mine):

In a wide-ranging 70-minute interview with Washington Post reporters and editors, the president-elect pledged quick action on the Middle East once he takes office, promised to support voting rights for D.C. residents, and said he will consider it a failure if he has not closed the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by the end of his first term in office.

100 days? The proclamation on closing will go out, probably before the end of Inauguration Day, and that will keep the dummies happy until it's forgotten (I suspect that the proclamation will be the last time the subject ever is mentioned in the mainstream media). Note that the Washington Post ignores it.

People here who are not paying attention think I'm gloating about Obama failures. Nothing of the sort. I'm becoming less nervous about him every day. This is the president that would make my "head explode," remember? I'm looking at some of the leftist web sites. It ain't my head that's exploding.

The failure I'm gloating over is that of the American Left, the ones who saw Obama as the great "progressive" hope, the "anti-Bush," the final victory for socialism in America. I'm gloating over the frustration of people whose ideas would wreck this country if someone ever actually DID impose them on America.

I could still be proven wrong. The leftists in the House could intimidate Obama--he seems to be very malleable. Or Obama could suddenly decide to do something really stupid. But it looks a little less likely every day.
